Q. I (have been dealing with) the problem of melasma for the last three years. I consulted with many doctors, but they all treated it with bleaching agents.  These made my skin worse. Please tell me, what can I do for myself?

A.Melasma is a skin condition of hyperpigmentation related to female hormones and sun exposure. Traditionally, bleaching agents containing hydroquinones and sunscreen are used. For most people this is very effective. However, in a small percentage of darker skin people, the skin will actually get darker from the hydroquinone. In cases like this, retinoids, bleaching acids (such as kojic acid), exfoliating agents and sunscreen must be used. This is difficult, so be meticulous and persistent!more >

Green Valley Mondays!  

 

HealthySkin is pleased to announce we have added Mondays to our Green Valley schedule as of February 27, 2012. James Schwartz, DO, will be accepting appointments in Green Valley on Mondays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
